DESCRIPTION

1967 MGC Mineral Blue

1968 MGC Roadster – Mineral Blue – Matching Numbers – Heritage Certificate

We are delighted to offer this highly desirable 1968 MGC Roadster, manufactured on 1st March 1968 and finished in the attractive factory colour of Mineral Blue, complemented by black leather upholstery with elegant white piping.

Introduced by BMC in 1967, the MGC was developed to fill the gap left by the departure of the Austin-Healey 3000. Powered by its distinctive six-cylinder engine, the MGC was produced for just two years, with only 1,403 roadsters manufactured, making it a relatively rare and sought-after addition to the classic MG range.

An Interesting History

This particular example benefits from an extensive history file, documenting its early life and subsequent maintenance. Records confirm that the car was originally supplied by University Motors Limited of London on 3rd April 1968, ordered in Mineral Blue and equipped with desirable factory options including chrome wire wheels, an overdrive gearbox and a tonneau cover.

Throughout much of the 1990s and 2000s, the car was in the care of Mr Murrell of Essex, who invested in its ongoing preservation. In 2002, substantial chassis restoration work was undertaken by Plessy Motors, including the replacement of the sills, floor pans and both front wings, alongside numerous additional improvements.

In 2005, the car benefited from the fitting of the particularly desirable MGOC seats, further enhancing its interior.

The MGC changed hands in May 2009 and subsequently travelled to the Republic of Ireland, where it was owned by Mr and Mrs Kennedy of Dublin. Invoices document further preparation work carried out to suit their requirements for participating in long-distance continental MG Car Club rallies.
